Dr Miroslav Pinak

Head of Radiation Safety & Monitoring Section within the Division of Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety at the Department of Nuclear Safety & Security

Dr Pinak has been Head of Radiation Safety and Montitioring section of the International Atomic Energy Agency since 2012.
His current role involves development and implementation of the IAEA’s policy and programme on specific aspects of radiation protection, the radiological protection of patients, the radiological protection of workers. Previously he has been associated with OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), Radiological Protection and Radioactive Waste Management Divison, Paris, France; Japan Atomic Energy Agency, (Environment and Radiation Engineering Unit), Tokai, Japan; Comenius University, The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Bratislava, Slovakia; and the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Institute of Radiation Dosimetry, Prague, Czechoslovakia

Dr Pinak studied Nuclear Engergy at the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Nuclear & Physical Engineering, Dept. of Dosimetry and Application of Ionizing Radiation, Prague, former Czechoslovakia completing his degree in 1985. He became a Doctor of Engineering (PhD) at University on Tokyo, Japan in 1994.
